The Kablamos: Characters

The Kablamos

Kob is the guitarist, lead singer/songwriter for The Kablamos. He's the newest member to Rockville elementary fourth grade. A determined little guy who lives for music, he's always very excited and optimistic about building new ideas. He's very patient with his friends and has a great knack for motivating and inspiring all the kids to participate in projects.

Mari is the bass player for The Kablamos. She's usually pretty quiet, but loves to play bass for the other kids. Sometimes, when no one can figure out how to solve a problem they're having, she just walks right up and quietly suggests a brilliant answer. She's the kind of kid that speaks less, but says more.

Ben is the drummer for The Kablamos. He’s Kob’s new best friend. He's the handy man and always finds a way to build what they need out of what they have. Whether they're building beats, a stage, a set, or just a fort to play in, Ben always makes it happen.

Kob's Magic Basement

Kob's Basement continually reveals that there's more than meets the eye... and no one knows where the door under the stairs leads to...

The Basement’s oddities help demonstrate the importance of imagination and sensitivity to the world and each other. For instance, the flowers known as “Sunny and the Soiled Bottoms,” like to dance to the music when healthy but seem to mope when they’re not watered. The fan turns on and spins for all of Kob’s songs and punch lines. The vacuum tries to beat the dog to the crumbs from Pete’s peanut butter and lima bean sandwiches.

The gang of friends

The Gang that hangs at Kob's Place

Johnny a.k.a "DJ What" is a laid-back dude who spins the turntables and is nicknamed, “DJ What” – "What," being the common response to his misunderstood mumbles and slurred speech because he's always listening to music through his headphones. He keeps the energy going and gets his friends dancing. He's the band's producer and makes sure The Kablamos always sound great, Kob really trusts his opinion about music.... when he can understand what he's saying. Johnny is Pete’s older brother.

Pete, Johnny's little brother, is a fearless little kid who wears his clothes backwards. His sense of adventure finds him in the oddest places... he even got stuck in the walls of Kob's basement once. He's filled with high energy, bounces around the room and always seems to provide the comedy needed to break any tense moment. He loves to torment the computer. They have a sort of love/annoy relationship.

Charlie is the bands cameraman, stage hand and lighting guy. A wannabe olympic downhill skier, Charlie always wears thick prescription ski goggles that cover most of his face. Labled the "accidental genius", things seem to just "fall"into place for him....especially after he clumsily knocked them over. He's the Kablamos' biggest fan.

Alina is the band's stylist and costume designer. She loves, making clothes, arts and crafts, and designing activities for all the kids that play at Kob's place. Her butterfly wings that she wears, were part of a Halloween costume she made and hasn't taken off in two years. She's really excited about designing outifts for The Kablamos. She's a young entrepreneur who started her own homemade clothing line called Messy. Her first design is a set of shirts promoting the band.

Lizzie is the bands PR person and an aspiring journalist that started her own newspaper called "The Basement", which covers everything that happens in Kob's place. True to a reporters mentality, she is always asking questions and trying to figure out riddles. She always has a notepad in hand and a follow up question in mind!

Second team

Meow is the dog of the house. He’s a big shaggy dog who drags anything he can get his mouth on across the room. He’s been dying to drag Pete since day one. Meow likes to knock things over, the good thing is that it gives the kids lots of practice setting things back up. He and the Vacuum always seem to race for the one crumb that landed on the floor.

The Computer’s monitor has been given the arts-and-crafts treatment, down to its tinfoil-wrapped cardboard cover, lollypop antennae and Slinky arms. He’s a bit annoyed with his predicament: he doesn’t fully understand why he's trapped inside a computer monitor. He's always commenting with an Adam Corolla/Mel Brooks-style humor that parents will most likely relate to. He's got a soft spot for music and loves that Kob moved into the house and started a band.
